Sforza Castle, or Castello Sforzesco, stands as one of Milan’s most emblematic landmarks, carrying a layered history that stretches from medieval fortification to Renaissance court and, eventually, to modern cultural hub. Castello Sforzesco began its history in the 14th century under the Visconti dynasty. Between 1358 and 1370, Galeazzo II Visconti ordered the construction of a fortified residence known as the Castello di Porta Giovia.
