This day I had the honour to attend the wedding of Alex and Giorgia at the Church of Saints Joseph and Blaise in Carciano, a hamlet of Stresa. I had seen this church on my walks when we spent a couple of months in Stresa. It is a charming church made even more special knowing we were there to celebrate two people beginning their life together. But as beautiful as the wedding was, I couldn’t help but wonder about the history of the church surrounding us.

And now, I find myself standing at the beginning of a life I never expected to live. So, I have been asking myself, what is my new normal?

“Biciclettata in Fiore” (Flower Bicycle Ride) is a long-running community cycling celebration in Arona on the shores of Lake Maggiore. The event is organized by Pro Loco Arona and is non-competitive family bicycle parade where participants decorate their bikes with flowers, ribbons, balloons, and colorful ornaments.

2026 Giro d'Italia came through our little town of Arona on May 22nd. It was the coolest thing to watch and has a very interesting history.

When I drove away from the hospital, I noticed my windshield was coated in dust. At first, I assumed it came from traffic nearby, but it didn’t make much sense since it had just rained. Gianduia or Gianduja is a traditional Italian chocolate that originated near Turin in the Piedmont region. In 1806, Napoleon’s Continental System restricted British goods from entering European ports under French control, leading to a shortage of cocoa.
