Italian under each section TikTok Video of Sacro Monte di San Carlo Church / Chiesa  Sacro Monte History The Sacred Mount of Arona is a complex devoted to Charles (Carlo) Borromeo and is part of nine Sacri Monti built in Piedmont and Lombardy in the 16 th  and 17th centuries.  It is located high above the town of Arona in the town of San Carlo.    Carlo Borromeo was born October 2, 1538 and became a cardinal in 1560, then becoming the Archbishop of Milan from 1564 to 1584.
